San Diego

Labor Day was an amazing weekend. I met Tara and Karin at the airport and immediately started the vacation.
Tara's dad is an ictymologist (meaning he studies fish) at the University of California San Diego, so we made a trip to his lab on Day 1. What an office! Full of fish in formaldahyde and old men scientists, but it's right on the beach and is absolutely beautiful. HJ (Tara's dad) is a genius and it was super interesting to hear all of the information he has to offer.
Later that night, we went out to eat with Tara's mom, Sonja. Never have I seen a mother and daughter so much alike! They are both crazy and funny and loud and happy.
Next day we hit the beach for more fun in the sun! And the shopping...fantastic. Good stuff for REALLY cheap. I wish I'd had about $300 to spend instead of $50!!
That night we spent beside a campfire with the moonlit beach as the backgroud. Too beautiful for my disposable camera to catch!
I had the best time with the two girls and with Tara's family. My first San Diego experience was amazing!

No, I'm not jealous or anything.

I finally got around to writing Joey's baseball letter of recommendation. I hope it's okay with both of you.

Of course ... I don't care if it's not.
